What Are Your Favorite Fall Flavors?

What flavors do you associate with fall?

For me, the ones that immediately come to mind are apple, cinnamon, caramel, ginger, cranberry, and pumpkin. Baking with these flavors will make your house smell delicious and give you that warm, comforting feeling.

Here is a recipe for Pumpkin Bread to get you started.

Easy Quick Pumpkin Pecan Bread

Pumpkin bread slicesIngredients:

1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup white whole wheat flour
1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice mix
1 cup solid pack pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie mix)
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 egg
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
1 cup chopped pecans

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a 9×5 inch baking pan.

Whisk the flours, baking soda, salt and pumpkin spice mix in a large bowl.

Mix the pumpkin, brown sugar, buttermilk, egg, and oil in another bowl until well blended.

Fold the wet ingredients into the flour mixture. Add the pecans and mix.

Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and smooth the top.

Bake for 1 hour in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Remove the pan from the oven and cool on a rack for ten minutes.

Turn the bread over onto another rack to cool completely. Store the bread on the counter overnight.
