True Love is Less

I wrote and first posted this poem back in 2011 and recently updated it.  It’s become my perennial Valentine’s Day poem.  For me, at least, it still captures what love and Valentine’s Day is about. 

True Love is Less

True Love is less about a day… than daily

Less about romance… than reality
Less about passions… than caring
Less about words… than deeds
Less about receiving… than giving

 

So measure your True Love

 

Less by this one day… than everyday
Less by its rosy hue… than its clarity
Less by its heat… than its compassion
Less by what is said… than what is done
Less by what is received… than what is given
