Dear President Obama:
Sorry I missed your speech at the Democratic fundraiser last week in Miami. I guess since I’m no longer a democrat, no one felt the need to invite me. It’s too bad, from all reports you were in top form and I could have used a few laughs. I did see video of the event and strangely enough, at first I didn’t see the humor of your comments.
I wondered if it was one of those ‘you had to be there’ moments. Because I have to confess, when I first heard your self confessed amusement at the expense of American taxpayers, it kind of rubbed me the wrong way. And I took offense at hearing:
“I have been amused a little over the past couple of days where people have been having these rallies, about taxes. Taxes. You would think they would be saying ‘Thank you!’.”
But, you know, Mr President, the more I thought about it, the more I realized you were right. As an American taxpayer I have been remiss in my thanks to you. So I want to remedy that now by thanking you for all the wonderful things that my tax dollars are paying for under your administration.
And as for your amusement, I think I understand it now too. So…
Thank you Mr. President, for keeping me and so many of my fellow (current and future) taxpaying Americans endlessly amused by spending our tax dollars to:
$$ Make deals for Obamacare – health care that is not universal, cheaper or reformed.
$$ Pay the salaries of Tim Geithner, Larry Summers and Ben Bernanke
$$ Bailout and enrich Bank of America, Citigroup, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase, Morgan Stanley, Wells Fargo
$$ Insure the multi-million dollar bonuses of ‘Too Big To Fail’ bank executives
$$ Keep Guantanamo Bay open
$$Continue G W Bush’s wars in Afghanistan and Iraq
$$ Continue G W Bush’s warrantless surveillance program
$$ Authorize the “president’s assassination program” that can target American citizens
$$ Indict National Security Agency whistleblower Thomas Drake on ten counts
